Mahavir Institute of Engineering & Technology (MIET) was established in the year 2001. It is located beside the NH-5 and about 18 Km. from the Bhubaneswar bus stand towards Khurda. The Campus is a self-sufficient unit catering to all sorts of needs of staff & students. Infrastructure and Facilities

Hostel

The institute has cozy home-like separate hostels for boys and girls with all modern amenities like beds, tables, chairs, electrical fittings, 24-hour water supply, TV sets, and a recreation hall with facilities for indoor games. The computer center and library hall are kept open for the residents of the hostels too. The Hostel facility is not mandatory and is available to students upon written request. The student has to fill in the application form and also give an undertaking in writing that he/she will abide by the Hostel Rules. Membership shall be terminated automatically at the end of each academic year. Students, who are desirous of returning to the Hostel, shall make a fresh application for readmission at the beginning of 2nd / the 3rd year.

Computing Labs

The College has more than 300 computers out of which there exists a Central Computing facility having 128 Computers with Linux/ Windows LAN connectivity through Servers. Software as per University course curricula like C/C++, Java, Matlab, and databases like Oracle, and Rational Rose exist. The college has Internet connectivity from BSNL of 10Mbps (1:1) leased line with Fibre Optic End point connectivity. Each Section has 32 PCs connected to DELL Blade Server. Students of all Engineering/ Technology branches including MCA and Architecture perform their common computing laboratory work in Programming in C, Data structure using C, OOP/C++, and RDBMS / ORACLE as per BPUT Syllabus. Besides this, students of higher Semesters of CSE, IT, and MCA utilize this laboratory for their Computer Network Lab, JAVA Programming Lab, OS Lab, Internet Lab, etc. All the PCs are with LAN connectivity and Internet connectivity.

Library

MIET library is well equipped with 36000 text reference books by both Indian and Foreign authors.24-hour online library facilities are provided by the institute. The digital library provides access to international journals. It’s an ideal place for study and research.

Transportation

The institution has its own fleet of buses to meet the transport needs of students and staff to commute to the campus from various parts of the city at a nominal cost fixed by the management.

Canteen

Mahavir Institute of Engineering and Technology has a well-maintained canteen which brings refreshments for the students. The canteen caters to all aspects of food. Admission Process

Admission to the B.Tech program is in accordance with the rules and regulations of the Biju Patnaik University of Technology and as per the norms and practice of the Govt of Orissa (J.E.E. rules).
Eligibility Passed 10+2 Science or its equivalent examination in a single sitting with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics group from a recognized institute Must have qualified OJEE/AIEEE
Lateral Diploma holders securing 60% marks in one attempt are eligible to take admission in 2nd year directly if they qualify in J.E.E conducted separately for lateral entry.
Fee Structure Since this is a self-financing Institute the students taking admitted to this institute are required to pay fees as prescribed by the Government Fees Structure Committee.

This cell bridges the gap that currently exists between the Industry and fresh professionals for recruitment purposes. It organizes campus interviews for better placements and coordinates Industrial Training for 2nd and 3rd-year students.
