About Madras Medical College Chennai

On the 16th, the Government General Hospital, one of the main institutions of the country, was inaugurated in November 1664 as a small hospital to treat sick soldiers of the East India Company. It was the tireless and inspired efforts of Sir Edward Winter, the company agent that materialized the first British hospital in Madras. In its beginnings, the hospital was installed in the Fort of S.George and over the next 25 years grew into a formal medical facility. Lord Governor. Elihu Yale was instrumental in the development of the hospital and gave it a new location in the Fort in 1690.

Sports

Madras Medical College is equipped with all necessary sports facilities. The college contains a standard-sized cricket ground with a regularly maintained pitch. For daily practice, the college is equipped with two net practices. Many tournaments and intercollegiate matches have been held at this cricket ground. There is a full-size volleyball court with a high-intensity floodlight. A concrete basketball court is also equipped with high-intensity floodlights. For hockey and football, there are only training grounds. There is also a separate throwing field and a separate shuttle rooster field for the students.
