Historical sources indicate that the University had a long and illustrious life which lasted almost continually for 800 years from the fifth to the twelfth century CE. It was a completely residential university believed to have 2,000 teachers and 10,000 students. The Nalanda ruins reveal through their architectural components the holistic nature of knowledge that was sought and imparted at this University. It suggests a seamless co-existence between nature and man, and between living and learning.
Nalanda University, a.k.a Nalanda International University is situated in the city of Rajgir which is located in Bihar. It is an internationally renowned university that is also focused on education and research. It was established by the Act of Parliament. The law also aims that it is a copy of an institution that is among the top famous old universities in Nalanda. It was operational between the 5th and 13th centuries.
The idea behind it was to bring back Nalanda University. The idea was first proposed in 2007 during the East Asia Summit. The major Eastern nations like Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, China, and also Japan participated in the summit. Additionally, it is believed to be one of the most prominent initiatives implemented by government officials of the Indian Government. It is also recognized in the list of International Institutions with National Importance through the Indian Parliament. The first classes of the college were scheduled on September 1, 2014. The campus will extend more than 160 acres. This makes it the biggest university in Asia.

Library
Library of Nalanda University works between 9 and 9 every the time. It also provides the most comfortable climate, as well as a high-speed internet router. The library is also fully automated. It also includes the KOHA ILM software as well as locker room facilities available for student. Because it is still in the stage of development, it is growing rapidly. Cafeteria
Food is often the first priority when getting ready for classes and exams. This is why Nalanda University includes a fully hygiene-conscious cafeteria inside the main building. So, students can take a bite to eat and drink between classes. In addition, it focuses on providing healthy and attractive food. The cafeteria is open on the weekdays from 9 am until 7 at night.
Hostel
Nalanda University at present offers five residence halls i.e., Ananda, Tathagat, Ajatshatru, Nagarjuna and Maitreya. In addition, they are under lease agreements with Bihar's Government of Bihar and private players. The halls are also used to cater to the ever-growing student population. Additionally, there is a restriction on it is also a place to accommodate the ever-growing number of students. Tathagat living quarters are exclusively accessible to women. Therefore, the rest of the facilities are only to males.
In addition, the halls for residences are equipped with two kinds of rooms i.e. one with and the other without air conditioning. Furthermore, it's divided into shared and single sharing. Certain furnishings and fixtures with bathrooms attached are available together with the space. Additionally, for nutritious and delicious food, there are separate dining halls that is geared toward students.
The university has two kinds of scholarships, namely Merit Scholarships and Means-cum-Merit Scholarships. Nalanda University offers scholarships for students from both national and international universities.
These aids are designed for those who are academically successful and financially disadvantaged.
Students whose household income is below INR 4.5 LPA can avail of the scholarship known as the Means-cum-Merit. Students must apply for this scholarship prior to July, as the deadline for applications is in July each year.
Both scholarships provide exemptions from tuition fees, residence and mess costs. Students enrolled in the regular PhD program will receive each month a fellowship in accordance with Nalanda University norms.
