NMCE Approved by AICTE

The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) was established in November 1945 as a national-level apex advisory body with the aim of conducting a comprehensive survey of the available facilities for technical education and promoting development in a coordinated and integrated manner across the country. The AICTE Act was formulated to establish the council, intending to facilitate proper planning and coordinated development of the technical education system throughout India. Its objectives include promoting qualitative improvements in technical education alongside planned quantitative growth, as well as regulating and maintaining norms and standards within the technical education system and related matters.

NMCE Affiliated with Shivaji University

Established in 1962, Shivaji University bears the name of the esteemed Maratha Warrior and founder of the Maratha empire, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Dr. Radhakrishnan, the then President of India, inaugurated the university on 18th November 1962. Its primary objective was to address the regional educational needs of South Maharashtra. The university's jurisdiction spans three districts: Kolhapur, Sangli, and Satara, with approximately 300,000 students enrolled in 280 affiliated colleges and recognized institutes. This region boasts a rich socio-cultural heritage, nurtured under the visionary leadership of Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj, who transformed Kolhapur into an educational hub accessible to all classes and communities. Karmaveer Bhaurao Patil's innovative 'Earn and Learn' scheme furthered this mission of democratizing education.

Initially starting with 34 affiliated colleges and 14,000 students across five Postgraduate Departments, the university has since expanded to 280 colleges and 300,000 students, with 34 Postgraduate Departments. Over the years, the university has focused on expanding higher education opportunities, especially in professional faculties like Engineering, Education, Management, and Medicine. Recent efforts have been directed towards achieving academic excellence and global recognition. The university has diversified its research areas into emerging fields like Industrial Chemistry, Environmental Science, Bio-Technology, and Computer Science.

The faculties of Arts and Social Sciences have adapted to changing times, evident from initiatives such as the Centre for Women's Studies and extension activities in Adult and Continuing Education. Merit is encouraged through schemes like the 'Shivaji University Merit Scholarship' and research fellowships for Ph.D. students. The university's endeavors have been acknowledged through grants from funding agencies and collaborations with prestigious institutes across the country. Efficient administration has ensured the smooth conduct of examinations and financial management. Future plans include the establishment of a School of Rural Management, a Research Institute of Bio-Technology, and an Advanced Centre of Information Technology.

Shivaji University's achievements are reflected in its rankings by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) and its standing in e-journal usage. Collaborations with institutions like the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), Pune, further its academic pursuits.

In conclusion, while initially conceived to serve regional aspirations, Shivaji University has transcended its regional identity to emerge as a premier institute of higher education and research in India.

NMCE accredited by NAAC

National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) was founded in 1994 as an autonomous body under the University Grants Commission (UGC), headquartered in Bengaluru. NAAC's primary goal, as outlined in its vision statement, is to integrate quality assurance into the functioning of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). NAAC operates through its General Council (GC) and Executive Committee (EC), which comprise educational administrators, policymakers, and senior academicians from various sectors of the Indian higher education system. The President of the UGC serves as the President of the GC of NAAC, while an eminent academician nominated by the President of the GC chairs the EC. The Director serves as the academic and administrative head of NAAC and is the member-secretary of both the GC and the EC. Additionally, NAAC receives guidance from advisory and consultative committees formed periodically to advise on its policies and activities.
