OIST, the flagship institution of the Eastern Group of Institutes, commence an action in the 1995 academic year. Through adversity and adventure, the institute achieved OGI's goal of becoming an internationally recognized group of institutions. OIST is one of the few institutions in Central India that is not only a be-spoke institution but also a destination for young members of the learning community who aspire to become the technocrats of tomorrow.

Single and double rooms for boys and girls are available separately on-site. The hostel rooms are well equipped with a good hygienic atmosphere and automatic machines. The Chief Warden has an effective team of rangers and assistants to look after the upkeep and running of the inns.
