Parle Tilak Vidyalaya Association’s Sathaye College located in the cultural hub of suburbs Vile Parle, is a well-known College, founded in 1959. This Arts and Science College later added Commerce faculty in 1982 and Sociology, Microbiology, and Psychology as courses from 2001 to 2016. New self-financing courses like B.Sc(I.T.), B.M.S., B.M.M. along with M.Sc. (I.T.), M.A. in Hindi, M.A. in Buddhist Studies, and Ph.D. in Physics and a variety of certificate courses were later added during 2001-2016.
Dr. Kavita Rege started some interesting intercollegiate festivals giving a platform to students to inculcate in them leadership qualities, organizational skills, and interpersonal relations. The college was twice accredited by NAAC with an ‘A’ grade. It was recognized in 2004 as the ‘Best Vocational Institute’ at the +2 level. Moreover, the University of Mumbai awarded the College in January 2015 as ‘The best College of Mumbai University (urban) for the year 2013-14. The college bagged the prestigious ‘Vice-Chancellor’s Banner’ on 25th November 2015 (NCC day) for the excellent work done by our NCC cadets in all these years, particularly in the year 2014-15. Parle Tilak Vidyalaya Association founded in 1921, established Parle College now Sathaye College, with a vision to establish an institution of higher learning.

Parle Tilak Vidyalaya Association’s Sathaye College, courses are offered at various levels like Certificate Course Certificate in Tourism & Travel Management, Certificate in Yoga Education (C.Y.Ed), Certificate in Spoken Sanskrit Undergraduate Degree i.e Bachelor of Mass Media (BMM), Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) General, Bachelor of Arts General (BA Gen.), Bachelor Of Management Studies (BMS), etc.Postgraduate Degree i.e. Master of Arts (MA) Buddhist Studies, Master of Arts (MA) Journalism and Mass Communication, Master of Science (M.Sc.) There are well-illuminated and well-ventilated 58 lecture halls varying in size to accommodate the different strengths of students which makes the teaching-learning process comfortable for students and teachers, Laboratories (Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Microbiology, Statistics, B.Sc. IT, Teaching Staff Common Room. Girls’ common room, Auditorium, Botanical Garden, Over overhead projectors, Bore well.Result Preparation Room, CAP Room.
The canteen is based on the ground floor of the college building and is open during hours notified by the Principal. Nutritious, healthy food is available for students, Spacious place, income generation (Ads)., Good hang-out. Efficient catering service for college functions.
Gymkhana:
5 carom boards,4 chess boards, One Table Tennis Table, Mini Gymnasium which has facilities for weight training, Power Lifting Boxing. gymkhana has sports facilities as follows: -Two Volleyball courts, Two Kabbadi fields, One Kho kho field, One Basket Ball court, and One cricket Field of the parent body with 3 turf wickets and 3 concrete wickets.
Science Laboratory:
Laboratories are well equipped with different instruments and chemicals like Spectrophotometer, PH meters, Conductivity meters, Furnace, Centrifuge Machines, Magnetic Stirrers, potentiometers,s, etc, to keep pace with academic growth. Renovation of Biology, Physics, and Chemistry laboratories was carried out. Department of Chemistry harbors three labs for Graduates and Postgraduate students based on the ground floor.
Departments of Botany (UG & PG), Zoology, and Microbiology have their laboratories based on the first floor. The Botany Department has its own Research Laboratory well equipped with a Computer and Projector, High-Resolution Binocular Microscope, Electronic Microscope, High-Speed Centrifuge Machines, Sensitive Digital Balance, etc. on the same floor.
Auditorium:
Vile-Parle (E) is a culturally rich suburb of Mumbai. It is also an educational “ Hub ”. Sathaye College is one of the reputed institutions of Vile-Parle which has a compact Auditorium with all the modern amenities required for any performing art. It has a capacity of precisely 163 seats and it is very convenient as well as it gives a joyful experience to any performer due to its good “ Acoustics ”.The Auditorium facilitates performances like Dance, Musical Concerts, One-Act Plays, Interviews, Mono-Acts, Lectures, Presentations, etc. It has all the necessary equipment which is updated from time to time.
Library:
Sathaye College library was founded in the year 1959 i.e. in the year when the college was established. Initially, there was only Degree College Library with two faculties viz. Arts and Science. In 1975 Junior College Library with all three faculties i.e. Arts, Commerce, and Science was started. Further in 1980 +2 Vocational Minimum Competency Courses were introduced. In the year 1982-83 Commerce Faculty was introduced. The library has about 72,000 books on various subjects (Thirty-Two Departments), 32 popular magazines and 58 Academic Journals, nearly 842 CD ROMs, 480 NFDC films, 7500 Exclusive Reference Books, 12 Daily Newspapers, 1010 Bound Volumes of Journals.
Admissions for F.Y.B.A., F.Y.B.Sc., and F.Y.B.Com. classes will commence after the declaration of the H.S.C. examination results. For admission to other classes, the process will begin after the announcement of the results of the respective qualifying examinations. This ensures that students have the opportunity to apply for admission once their examination results are available, facilitating a smooth transition into their desired academic programs. Prospective students are advised to stay updated with the college's announcements regarding admission schedules and procedures.
The eligible beneficiary students who wish to secure the benefits of the following freeship and scholarship schemes, need to provide the related documents. For this, they must register online to upload the relevant documents. The notice regarding filling up of form for a particular scholarship or freeship will be displayed on the notice board as well as on the website. Students have to fill the net shape from above above-stated internet site and take printouts of the shape. The printout can be submitted along with the related documents in the office or the NRC to the respective staff mentioned.
