The Samundra Institute of Maritime Studies (SIMS) is one of the leading maritime training institutes in India and was established in 2005 by Executive Ship Management (ESM), Singapore. The college is situated in Lonavala, Maharashtra, and is closely affiliated with the Indian Maritime University while being approved by the Directorate General of Shipping. The courses at SIMS include B.Tech in Marine Engineering, DNS, GME, and ETO. The institution is famous for its green campus and for being equipped with special simulators and the training infrastructure that is world-class. The institute follows strictly merit-based admission, meaning one must often provide IMU-CET scores and psychometric assessments. The college is proud of its almost 100% placement, which comes with the cadets finding themselves in leading global shipping organizations. Sponsored training and strong industry links are the two main sources that often make SIMS a favorite. The students are accommodated and trained in a live-in campus environment as well as provided with ship-like real scenarios in the center. Deserving students have scholarships and financial aid at their disposal. SIMS is in the list of India’s best maritime institutes annually.
Samundra Institute of Maritime Studies is situated in Singapore, and the people who started it in 2005 are also one of India's most preferred marine training centers. In the city of Lonavala at Maharashtra, SIMS has made it to a green and clean surrounding that is harnessed via the presence of advanced equipment such as full-mission simulators, a set of liquid cargo handling systems, and an eco-campus powered by solar energy. The basic nod and approval for the college come from the Indian Maritime University and the Directorate General of Shipping.

The most modern programs that SIMS can be proud of are B. Tech Marine Engineering and DNS. Provided as they are by Executive Ship Management, these programs achieve a very positive response and this makes the SIMS a priority in the area of professional marine education. Innovations in the programs' training process, introducing advanced simulator-based modules, and assured placements are among the key reasons why SIMS is popular with the marine aspirants. The rigorous training menu available in both GME and ETO courses, and additional resource materials such as up-to-date simulator-based modules, plus the surety of placements, have seen the two programs catapult to the top in the professional marine education priority list.

Samundra Institute of Maritime Studies Applicants can only apply online via the SIMS portal. B.Tech and DNS were for applicants with IMU-CET rankings only, while GME and ETO entrants had to undertake in-house written tests at SIMS. In addition to the educational background, the selection procedure brings forth a psychometric test, a career personality measurement tool, and a direct delivery interview where a DG-approved doctor completes the process. A large number of applicants ultimately get sponsorships, which means that they received them on competitive and career-oriented grounds.

Samundra Institute of Maritime Studies Admission is the result of the quality of the student's record and the success of the competition. For BE and B.Tech courses, the students should have at least 60% in Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics of the 10+2 level in addition to qualifying the IMU-CET. However, the requirements of GME and ETO are engineering degrees in relevant fields. In addition, having to pass the psychometric test, personal interview, and medical fitness examination will be necessary for all candidates applying for admission.

Samundra Institute of Maritime Studies does not issue official cutoffs; the institution reviews the results of the IMU-CET, academic marks, and the candidates' success in the interview to decide eligibility. For B.Tech, DNS, and B.Tech courses, high marks in the IMU-CET test increase the likelihood of admission. Selection of GME and ETO is internal. Also, candidates' health status and mental strengths are always checked so that only the physically fit and mentally competent ones are admitted, ensuring the qualifications of the institution are maintained.

SIMS's track record towards almost full job placement among cadets is mostly due to the support of its management company, ESM. The organization is involved in placing graduates with well-known global shipping brands such as Maersk, MSC, Wallem, and BP Shipping. Furthermore, the process also experiences practical aspects from the career perspective, such as onboard sailing, including mock interviews, and the use of ship simulation etc. Immediate employment with lucrative remuneration packages is the common feature for all the cadets who complete the course.
