Sanjay Gandhi Polytechnic, Ballari was the first premier private co-educational Polytechnic established in the year 1992 to provide quality technical education, affording young men and women the opportunity to quip themselves for employment. The Institute is recognized by the Government of Karnataka, the All India Council for Technical Education(AICTE), New Delhi, and is affiliated to the Directorate of Technical Education, Bangalore.

Laboratory:
The institute has well-equipped laboratories and workshops where both students and faculty are encouraged to pursue experiments related to varied syllabi/courses. Guest Lectures by eminent speakers drawn from reputed industries, institutions, and research establishments are arranged periodically for the benefit of the students
Academic Progress:
Parents. Guardians are periodically informed of the student's academic progress. Bulk SMS is sent to parents on a weekly basis.
Educational Tours:
Educational tours to industrial units are arranged for the final year students.
Solar Power:
A49 KVA Solar Power Plant has been set up and a backup of 100 KVA Diesel generator is provided for uninterrupted electricity supply 24/7 for smooth running of labs and classes.
RO filtered Drinking Water:
A 1000 Litre RO filtered drinking water plant has been installed in the institute for continuous pure drinking water supply for all students.
Learning Resource Utilization Center:
The institute enhances the effectiveness of"Teaching-Learning; as an interactive process by employing emerging hi-tech teaching aids, apart from the conventional chalkboard method.
Scholarships:
A scholarship that is provided under the guidance of AICTE is given to the girl students-Pragati and Sakshi Scholarships: Pragati is an MHRD Scheme being implemented by AICTE which aims at providing assistance for the Advancement of Girls pursuing Technical Education. Education is one of the most important methods of women's empowerment with the knowledge, skill, and self-confidence necessary to participate fully in the development process.
Placements:
Just like any other engineering college, Sanjay Gandhi Polytechnic College also has its very own dedicated Training and Placement Cell which manages and conducts all the Pre-placement, campus drives, training, and industrial visits related activities.
