Sarojini Naidu College for Women (SNCW) is situated in the northern suburbs parts of Kolkata. It is considered one of the first institutions for women’s education in this part which was established on 14th August 1956. Now the college is officially under the affiliation of West Bengal State University (WBSU). SNCW Kolkata is a Government-sponsored college, approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC). Koha had been introduced here in 2015 as a local hosting basis. But to keep pace with the increasing demand from the users for getting 24 hours library service, Cloud hosting of Koha had been introduced in the year 2017. Nowadays there are several sites for reading free open-source e-journals and e-books. All are listed here so that users can search them from a single interface. The Central Library has taken membership from N-LIST, British Council Library to facilitate its use. The Central Library provides the facility of e-Library to its users. Computers are provided for both the teachers and the students as per their requirements. The hostel with accommodation for 64 boarders is situated within the premises amidst lush green surrounding overlooking a vast playground. It is open on all four sides with airy rooms and balconies. As it is located behind the college's main building it has its privacy and security.
