The College of St. Alberta is an autonomous institution located in the heart of the city of Kochi, affiliated with Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, and under the Archdiocese of Verapoly. The seeds of this portal to higher learning had already been sown when St. Alberta began operations in 1892. On August 18, 1898, the school was recognized by the University of Madras. From the beginning, it has been the leading learning center for youth in the entire Cochin area. The College owes its origins to the foresight and prudence of its Founding Patron, the Rev. Dr. Joseph Attipetta, the first Indian Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Verapoly. His Excellency, a noble prelate of rare foresight and holiness, aimed to promote the higher education of his flock. With this vision, His Grace undertook the arduous mission of founding the college. However, the intensity of the work of this colossal project was shared by the selfless and devoted service of Rev.
