SVITS was established in the year 1998-99 by the JES of Mahabubnagar with a commitment to Engineering & Technology with an emphasis on related Science and Management Education. This academic year 2007-08, the institution is completing 10 years of academic excellence in the above area. Keeping in view, that Knowledge is Power; the institution is putting unflinching efforts to provide the best facilities for the attainment of quality Technical Education. The Institution which started with 4 Undergraduate courses in engineering with 180 intakes has grown into a big institution with 6 Undergraduate courses with an intake of 420 students and 4 postgraduate courses with an intake of 156. The Institution is conducting Decennial Celebrations during 2007-08 spreading over about 4 months. Curricular, co- Curricular and Extra Curricular activities besides special functions were conducted without hindrance to the regular class work.

Sree Visvesvaraya Institute of Technology and Science courses are offered at various levels like Diploma Degree i.e Diploma in Civil Engineering, Diploma in Electrical & Electronics Engineering etc., Undergraduate Degree i.e Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) Residential Accommodations:

The Institution has well-furnished separate hostels for both boys & girls. The boy's Hostel with a capacity to accommodate 200 students is located in the campus of the Institution. The Girls Hostel is located in Mahabubnagar.

The Hostels are well managed under the supervision of the Management and Principal. The day to day's affairs of the boy's Hostel is managed by the Warden. The Girl's Hostel is managed by an experienced Matron. She looks after day-to-day affairs discipline and welfare for the inmates of the Girls Hostel.

Additional accommodation was provided by constructing the Second Floor of the Boys' Hostel. A separate dining hall was also constructed last year. Canteen: A Canteen is provided in the institute premises to provide quality and nutritious Tiffins and meals for day scholars and staff members at a reasonable cost.

Transport Details:

The institution has its own fleet of vehicles( Buses, Van, cars) for the transport of students & Staff. RTC ply plenty number of buses via institution. The Transport Department of SVITS is enriched with 10 buses, one van and 3 cars to transport staff and students. The institute initially started with two buses. A team of 17 well-experienced drivers drive them to their destinations. They are assisted by 4 cleaners in maintaining the vehicles neat and tidy.

Library:

The institution has open access Library consisting of 37,747 textbooks of the latest editions. The Library is fully supported by Digital Library, the facility offered by SONET and more than 30,000 books can be accessed besides National and International Journals. The Library has also a book bank scheme under which a set of books on all subjects are loaned to the student till the completion of the academic year.

Sports Facilities:

Apart from regular academic activities, we give equal importance to games and sports. SVITS provide excellent facilities and encourages our students to participate in various games and sports like Cricket, Basketball, Volley Ball, Badminton, Shuttle, Table Tennis, Chess, and Caroms.

Full facilities for indoor and outdoor games are made available. Basket ball court has been installed at a cost of above 2 lakhs. Every year sports and games meet is conducted for students and staff and prizes are awarded on the annual day function. This institute has a full-time Physical Director who encourages students to participate in various sports and games based on students' desires.

Internet Facility:

All the computer centres are provided 24 Hrs a. Internet facilities through fast broadband leased line.

A canteen is provided within the campus of the Institution. The canteen provides fresh nutritious food at nominal rates. The Institution has 2 canteens, in that one canteen is reserved for hostlers and another is for faculties and day-schollers

Admission

To get admission into a four-year B.Tech degree course in Engineering, the candidates must have passed the Intermediate examination conducted by the Board of Intermediate Education, Government of TS. The candidates also should qualify in the EAMCET Examination conducted by the Govt. of TS. The candidates will be admitted by the Convenor through the EAMCET counselling as per merit based on EAMCET rank and marks in the Intermediate examination.

Placements

The training and placement cell of SVITS is actively interacting with various industries and developing continuous rapport in order to expose the students to a practical environment to enable the students to integrate theory and practice. Further, the cell is bringing Industries to Institutions in order to impart Industry Grade Employable Skills and outsource the research work/projects. The training and placement cell is also providing an opportunity for the students to handle live projects following Industry standards. Training in GRE/TOEFL for further studies abroad.

To facilitate the final year students planning to go abroad for higher studies are given intensive training in GRE & TOEFL to withstand the competition. This helped the students to seek admission in reputed foreign universities.
