The members of the High Level Committee of fisheries submitted the proposals to the former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu J. Jayalalithaa in the presence of M. Radhakrishnan, former Minister for Fisheries Department of Tamil Nadu in 2012 to start a separate fisheries university in Tamil Nadu.
A comprehensive, multidisciplinary, research-focused, and student-centric university aimed at becoming a leading international institution of higher learning by : Developing and educating the path-shapers of tomorrow, who can shoulder the challenges of globally responsible, and ethical leadership in the 21st Century.
Developing deep disciplinary knowledge, problem solving ability, leadership, communication and interpersonal skills. The flexible credit-based system for interdisciplinary learning to enrich academic experience.
