About the University of Lucknow

The idea of establishing a university in Lucknow was first proposed by Raja Sir Mohammad Ali Mohammad Khan, Khan Bahadur, K.C.I.E. of Mahmudabad, who wrote an article in the columns of "The Pioneer" calling for the foundation of a university in Lucknow. A little later Sir Harcourt Butler, K.C.S.I., K.C.I. And, he was appointed Lieutenant-Governor of the United Provinces, and his well-known interest in all questions under his jurisdiction, particularly in the area of education, gave new force and vigor to the proposal.

Residential Accommodation

Separate boys and girls hostels with high security are available on the university campus. Boys and girls have two hostels with WiFi services for UG and PG, which can accommodate about 450 students each with good infrastructure. A college van and car are always available to meet the needs of emerging customers. A well-equipped gymnasium is set up for the students of the hostel to develop the physical abilities of boys and girls. A hygienic mess is attached to hostels. 

The library

With the advent of Information communication technologies, libraries started implementing technologies in their operations and services in the late nineties. In 1995, Tagore Library started providing email services to its users through SIRNET, New Delhi using a dial-up connection. In 2008, the Library created the EResource center with 50 computers connected to the Internet. Students used this hub to access E-Resources and other online educational resources until the Cyber ??Library was born.

Medical Services and Health Center

Internal medical facilities in the form of a dispensary have been part of Lucknow University from the very beginning. In 2001, the services and scope of the Dispensary were expanded. The Dispensary offers free check-up services and medications to staff and students. The dispensary has facilities in both  Old Campus and Second Campus (in Jankipuram). The University looks forward to further expanding the scope of the Dispensary to provide more facilities.

Canteen

To provide fresh and packaged food, there are five Canteens on the Old Campus and three on the Second Campus. They provide a variety of nutritious food products at low prices to students, teachers, employees, and visitors to the University.

Sport

The University is committed to developing a sporting culture among students. The old campus of the University is enriched with two sites dedicated to outdoor sports activities such as football, cricket, volleyball, and athletics, as well as a basketball court. Likewise, the second campus also has a sports court, badminton courts, and a basketball court.

The gym provides students with constant exercise. It is especially important for the physical well-being of students who have put aside physical activities after school days.
