Medical College was established in the year 1999 and affiliated with Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences Bangalore for the award of degrees. A batch of 100 MBBS students was admitted in the year 1999. Subsequently in the year 2005, after obtaining permission from the Medical Council of India postgraduate courses in seven departments were started. Presently the Yenepoya Medical College is conducting Postgraduate Courses in 20 departments.

Libraryit has evolved and transformed into a University library in letter and spirit in the year 2008. Currently, the library milieu in Yenepoya (Deemed to be University) includes the central library and the libraries by the constituent units, departments, and centers. The central library is located in a standalone air-conditioned building and it is the central hub of information. It has networking as well as resource-sharing capabilities to cater to the learning needs of the students, researchers, and faculty.
