JEE Main 2025 Application Glitches: NTA Online Form Fails to Update Candidate Information

Candidates who had appeared for the January Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main session were facing problems in re-registration for the April session. The National Testing Agency has not given the option to update crucial details in the online form, such as city preferences and personal information like a reserved category.

According to updates, candidates who applied under the general category in January, because their reserved category certificates were not available, are now unable to update their status, although they have the documents.

The NTA has announced the second session of JEE Main April registration from February 1 and the dates will close on February 25. As per the official notification, existing candidates can choose their preferred course (paper), change the medium of the question paper, select exam cities, and make the fee payment; still, the failure to update personal details remains a major problem. JEE Main is conducted twice a year. Candidates can attempt both sessions. The best score of the two is considered for ranking.

Candidates can check the common issues faced by aspirants while filling JEE Main April session application form 2025:

1. A candidate said, "I had applied under the general category earlier. My OBC certificate was not ready then. I thought it would be all right to get it updated during the second session, but that option is no longer available, now that I am registering for the April session.".
2. Reduced Exam Cities: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has cut down the number of JEE Main exam cities in India from 300 last year to 284 this year. International exam centres have also decreased from 24 to 14.
3. Eligibility State Issue: Another issue candidates have raised is that they are unable to change their "state of eligibility." Many aspirants who registered in January from another state chose centres near their coaching institute rather than their home state, which could impact their prospects of getting the home state quota.
4. NTA Response: The NTA Director General has not responded to requests for comment. However, a source at NTA admitted to the situation, adding, "We still have thousands of unresolved complaints from the January session."
