Dr A P J Abdul Kalam Technical University was established in 2015.
Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University, earlier than 2015 because the Uttar Pradesh Technical University, is a country authorities run affiliating college in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India. It became set up because of the Uttar Pradesh Technical University thru the Government of Uttar Pradesh on 8 May 2000.
APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University was approved by UGC and accredited by AICTE.
The university offers undergraduate courses in engineering, architecture, hotel management, catering technology, fashion and apparel design, and pharmacy. These lead to degrees of B.Tech, B.Arch, BHMCT, BFAD, and B.Pharma respectively. The university offers postgraduate courses in computer applications and business administration leading to degrees of MCA, MBA, and MBA (Rural Development).

The campus has a 3-storied Central Library which is updated and under regular maintenance.
Admissions at the APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University for UG and PG courses are based on the UPCET entrance test. The university also accepts JEE Mains scores for B.Tech admissions.
The university offers a range of scholarships which include scholarships for students from minority groups if they surpass the stated cutoff in their higher secondary examinations under the regulations of the Uttar Pradesh State Scholarship scheme. Many other scholarships are also provided for its meritorious scholarships such as the Post Matric scholarship.
AKTU also provides placement opportunities to its graduated students or the students who are about to graduate through University-Industry Interface Cell. In the placement drive of 2022, the highest salary package touched the INR 113 LPA which was offered by Amazon. The university has launched several programs to promote and implement entrepreneurship among the students.
As enshrined in the University Act, the University aims to provide and upgrade education, training and research in fields of technical education, and to create entrepreneurship and a conducive environment for pursuit of the technical education in close co-operation with industries. Further, as a very distinguishing feature of its vision.
In addition to transmission of knowledge through a very well thought teaching pedagogy, the University lays a strong emphasis on knowledge creation through a well planned research programme in emerging areas.
