Institute of Engineering and Technology, Lucknow (hereafter called “IET) (popularly known as the-“Engineering College” in Lucknow) is one of the premiers and top-ranked institutes among all technical institutions associated/affiliated to Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam Technical University, Lucknow (hereafter called “AKTU”). IET was established by the government of Uttar Pradesh in 1984 as a society-governed Institute. The Institute is financed by Government of Uttar Pradesh and is being administered by the Executive Council of AKTU.

IET Lucknow was started as the ‘Faculty of Engineering and Technology’ of the University of Lucknow. Initially, in the year 1984, it offered B. Tech. Degree in three programs namely Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Electronics & Communication Engineering. In the subsequent year, two more programs i.e. B. Tech. in Civil Engineering and B. Tech. in Mechanical Engineering came into existence. The Campus was developed by Uttar Pradesh Rajkiya Nirman Nigam Ltd (UPRNN) on a 100-acre (0.40 km2) of land provided by the government of Uttar Pradesh. IET campus comprises Administrative Blocks, Academic Blocks, Boys’ and Girls’ Hostels, and nearly 100 residences for Teaching and Non-Teaching Staff Members. Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) provided the required support for the construction of external roads, electric supply, drainage, and sewage for the Institute.

Undergraduate students are admitted through UPSEE (Uttar Pradesh State Entrance Examination) on the basis of the rank obtained by the candidate in this examination. At present this examination is conducted by AKTU. Around 1,50,000 students appear in this examination every year seeking admission to more than 800 engineering colleges affiliated with AKTU. The Institute is one of the most preferred institutes by top rankers during UPSEE counseling.

There are eight boys’ and three Girl’s Hostels, accommodating around 2000 students. All the hostels are located within the Institute campus. Each hostel has its own mess, managed by student representatives. Hostels are provided with Television, Water-Purifier, Water-Cooler, Geyser, and facilities for Indoor Games. Various hostels are Vishveshwaraiya Bhawan-A, Vishveshwaraiya Bhawan-B, Raman Bhawan-A, Raman Bhawan-B, Bhabha Hostel, Aryabhatt Hostel, Ramanujam Hostel, Ram Manohar Lohia Hostel, Gargi Bhavan (Girl’s ' Hostel) Apala Hostel (Girl’s Hostel) and Sarojni Bhawan (Girl’s Hostel). A newly constructed ‘Maitraiyee Hostel is ready for the allotment to the girl-students.

Institute of Engineering and Technology courses are offered at various levels like Undergraduate Degrees i.e Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) in Electrical Engineering, Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) Facilities and Infrastructure

Our alumni have proved their mettle in the tough grind of the corporate world. Their success could be attributed to the rigor and grit at the IET. With emphasis given to not only the fundamentals of academics, but also the all-round development of the individual, the student when he walks out of these doors is no longer a student, but an executive toughened to take on the battles of the corporate world.

Living in a new environment can be a challenging and sometimes daunting experience, especially for young students who are entering undergraduate college for the first time. Keeping these things in mind, the Institute of Engineering and Technology, Lucknow provides all the basic amenities and support facilities on the campus. In addition to the basic amenities like telephones, Internet, and banking services, the institute provides various support facilities like the library, computer center, gymnasium, dispensary, etc. to help students pursue their studies and research without any hindrance and give them all-around development. These facilities are centrally located and are open beyond normal working hours. Services of the central library and computer center are some of the services that are heavily used by the students.

All these central facilities are well equipped with the necessary infrastructure and headed by a faculty member and/or a senior administrative staff.

Residential Accommodations:

The Institute has hostel facilities for boys and girls separately. There are six boys' and two girls' hostels along with a 24-hour backup power supply. They accommodate around 1500 undergraduate and postgraduate students. Committees consisting of elected student representatives manage them. All the hostels are located on the campus. The hostel rooms are spacious and well-furnished.

Each hostel has its own mess. The hostel mess is operated by elected student representatives. Spacious and modern kitchens with steam cooking cater to healthy and nutritious food. Strict hygienic conditions are maintained.

Each hostel is provided with a television, telephone, water purifier, water cooler, and kit for indoor games and outdoor games. The hostels, also include a shop within its boundary for basic amenities. The hostel residents are expected to adhere to a set of hostel rules and regulations.

Library:

The central library of IET is a place where students find peace and solace in their studies. The aim of the Library is to facilitate information services and access to bibliographic, full text both in digital and printed resources to support the academic and information requirements of all students, faculty members, and staff. It functions under a library team that comprises of Sr. Faculty as overall In charge and deputy In charge along with assistant librarian, cataloguers, library information assistants, and Senior assistants. The library is well equipped with textbooks and references books catering to the need of UG courses and PG courses. The reference section of the library is spread in a big area with natural light and air making the environment fresh. The library is automated with KOHA providing the right platform to maintain its webpage.

Gymnasium

A state of art gymnasium has been established to aid the physical fitness maintenance of the students. The gymnasium is equipped with all modern equipment and is open for both boys and girls at separate times during mornings and evenings.

Auditorium:

Pandit Ram Prasad Bismil Sabhagar has a seating configuration for 800 people with acoustic audio-visual amenities. Other services include video conferencing, digital projection, and Wi-Fi facilities. It has an excellent stage to be used for all common functions. It is the central important place to deliver professional seminars, and organize conferences and presentations. This is also a venue for various student cultural events and the annual students’ fest ENCORE. Backstage support and a service room are also available.

Medical Facilities:

As a healthy body leads to a healthy mind, the Institute provides a dispensary which is a well-organized entity catering to around 2000 people (including 1700 students and 300 staff members). It provides all medical facilities and medicines regularly to the patients of the Institute during OPD hours

Sports complex :

The role of sports in keeping young engineers fit and active is immense. A sports complex with all the modern amenities is under construction at IET. This particular sports complex on the campus is being constructed keeping in mind that the students and faculty members should get effortless access to sports. The Sports Complex will be having a football ground, a cricket field, a lawn tennis court, basketball and volleyball courts, a running track, etc. It will also have a multipurpose hall to cater to different indoor sports.

Computer Center

The institute has a well-equipped computer center with the latest in both hardware and software. The Center also caters to in-house Software Development and maintenance of the same.

The Center is equipped with multiple laboratories each comprising of the latest configuration Desktop Computers, the laboratories are used for conducting various Experiments and also serve as General Purpose Computer Labs for the institute.

Admission

Admission is based on an entrance exam conducted by the University.

IET Lucknow provides various UG, PG, and doctorate-level programs such as B.Tech, M.Tech, MBA, MCA, and Ph.D. Admissions to all the courses are based on merit and national-level entrance exams. JEE Main/CUET/GATE exams are accepted by the institute as the basis of admission to courses. The admission process is completely online and interested and eligible students can apply through the official website.

Scholarships

IET Lucknow does not offer any scholarships on its own. However, Students applying to IET can avail of any need-based and merit-based scholarship provided by the government. Students can even get admission under the fee-waiver quota at IET. Students, whose family's annual income is below a certain level, can avail of the need-based scholarship after fulfilling the required conditions. Students at the regional level are eligible to receive a scholarship of INR 40,000 and INR 20,000 for the first and second positions respectively. For the national level scholarship, first, second and third students will get INR 75,000, INR 60,000, and INR 40,000 respectively.

With this, there is the UP Postmatric Scholarship. The students of all courses and branches can apply online for the UP Postmatric Scholarship.
