National Institute Of Technology, Silchar Admission Process

Admissions to the first semester of all Undergraduate courses are granted based on seats allocated by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) from the selected candidate's list of the All India JEE (Main) examination. Additionally, a specified number of foreign nationals/NRIs, as per the Government of India's policy, are directly admitted to the 1st year of the courses.

For Regular (Full-time) M.Tech. Programs and admissions are facilitated through seats allocated by the Centralized Counselling for M.Tech./M.Arch./M.Plan. Admission (CCMT).

Selection Criteria for B.Tech

  1. Applicants need a valid rank in the JEE exams.
  2. Seat allocation occurs through JoSAA counseling.
  3. A merit list is prepared based on exam results.

Selection Criteria for M.Tech

  1. Applicants must take the GATE examination and secure a valid rank.
  2. The board organizes counseling for selected candidates' post-GATE scores.
  3. Candidates shortlisted by the COAP portal receive acceptance letters and seat offers in their preferred colleges.

MBA Selection Criteria

Regular: Full-time students eligible for assistantship or fellowship.

Sponsored: Employees with experience and sponsorship.

Part-Time: Employed personnel attending classes as per institute norms.

Project Staff: Engaged in sponsored projects within the Institute.

Sponsored (External Registration): Candidates conducting research in affiliated organizations.

Institute Employees: Regular or contract employees sponsored as part-time students.

Duration

  1. The minimum duration of the Ph.D. The program varies based on degrees held, ranging from four to eight semesters.
  2. The maximum duration is 6 years for full-time students and 7 years for part-time students, inclusive of all granted leaves.

Qualifications

For admission into Engineering Departments, students must meet M.E./M. Tech. or B.E./B.Tech. criteria. For Science, Management Studies, and Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS) Departments, specific Master's degree qualifications are required. Candidates qualifying for CSIR or CBSE NET/JRF exams are exempt from the entrance examination for NIT Silchar's Ph.D. program.
