The B.Sc (Hons) is a three-year undergraduate degree in Nautical Sciences. The Bachelor's degree focuses on the essential intellectual and practical devices needed to sail and run maritime vehicles properly, such as ships. The course has been certified by the Directorate General of Shipping, part of the Government of India's Ministry of Shipping. Nautical Sciences' B.Sc (Hons) programme comprises subjects including navigation, Seamanship, basic use of board facilities and tools.
The student is posted to a ship as a cadet officer after completing the course (commonly referred to as a deck cadet). After completing sufficient sea time (experience/sea time necessary as a deck cadet varies according to the undergraduate study followed) and passing the required certificate of competency exams, the cadet becomes authorized to work as a navigating officer on board a commercial ship."

  • Students must have completed (10+2) Secondary and Higher Secondary education from a recognized board with at least 60% in Physics, Chemistry, and Math as compulsory courses.
