Admissions at Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology are both entrance and merit-based. Thapar University accepts various national-level entrance exams such as JEE Main, NEET, GATE, CAT/ GATE/ CAT/ MAT/ XAT/ NMAT/ CMAT/ GMAT, and UGC NET for admission to various courses. Candidates without national-level scores are given admission based on either merit or an entrance test conducted by the university.

BE 

Candidates must pass class 12th with at least 70% marks (65% for SC/ST candidates) in aggregate of three subjects namely Physics, Mathematics, and any one subject out of Chemistry/ Biology/ Biotechnology/ Technical Vocational subject.

Valid score in JEE Main Examination.

B.Tech Biotechnology

Candidates must have passed class 12th or equivalent examination with at least 70% marks (65% for SC/ST candidates) in aggregate of three subjects, namely, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.

A valid score in the NEET examination

B.Tech Biomedical Engineering

BTech (Lateral Entry)

B.Sc. (Non-Medical) from a recognized University with 60% marks Or Diploma, in a relevant discipline, of minimum 3 years: 60% marks

ME/ M.Tech

BE/B. Tech degree with at least 60% aggregate marks from a recognized university Candidates should have valid scores in GATE.

MBA

Graduate Degree in any discipline with 50% aggregate marks.

Valid marks in CAT/ NMAT/ XAT/ CMAT/ MAT/ GMAT/ GRE/ SNAP or TMAT (Thapar Management Aptitude Test) scores.

MA Psychology

A bachelor's degree in Psychology, or Home Sciences/ Nursing/ Human Development, or a minimum 3-year B. Tech program, with at least 50% aggregate marks (45% for SC/ST) and Psychology as a subject at the undergraduate level is required.

M.Sc 

Bachelor’s degree in Science of minimum 3-year duration (10+2+3 year’s pattern) with 60% (55% for SC/ST) marks in aggregate from a recognized university.
