Delhi Institute of Hotel Management & Catering Technology (DIHM&CT) was established in 1983, by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India in association with the Government of Delhi for training in trades & crafts in hotel & catering operations. The DIHM&CT, New Delhi has been a center for excellence & a living testament to the commitment to hospitality education. It is the metamorphosis of the Food Craft Institute. In the beginning, the institute was started from a portion of the Polytechnic building at Kashmere Gate, Delhi, and has made a long journey till the shifting of the premise at Lajpat Nagar churning out trained manpower all through. In 1999, the Delhi Institute of Hotel Management & Catering Technology was upgraded from Food Crafts Institute to a fully-fledged Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology. Since then the institute has been training future hospitality professionals and catering to the rising demands in various fields like – hotels, aviation, hospitals, travel and tourism, restaurant and bars, fast food joints, etc. At DIHM courses encompass both practical and theoretical knowledge of every phase of Hotel, Catering, and Institutional Management starting from B Sc to short Diplomas and various skill enhancement programs. DIHM&CT offers B.Sc. in Hospitality & Hotel Administration, PG Diploma in Accommodation & Operation, and Diploma courses in 5 different management disciplines such as Hotel Front Office Operation, Food Production, Bakery And Confectionery, Food & Beverage Service, Accommodation Operations & Management, House Keeping, Post Graduate Diploma in Accommodation Operations & Management, Bakery and Patisserie and certification in Multi Cuisineie and certification in Multi Cuisine, French, German, Japanese, Spanish.

A Training restaurant with 40 covers where one gets to study the wines of the world, and the service of food as per the latest industry trends. A Training kitchen where techniques of creating mouth-watering and exotic dishes from around the world are taught. Students have also imparted knowledge of bakery and confectionery which is in great demand all across the globe. A Quantity Training Kitchen where the student can experience working in large kitchens of hotels and institutions.

A state of the art Air conditioned computer Lab of with 40 computers, Wi-Fi connectivity, and professional software to impart Hotel and Hospitality working knowledge to students. Nowadays all operations of organizations are automated and every student must be aware of basic computer skills and also the different operating systems used in their organization.
There are separate hostels for girls and boys inside the campus. Home away from home, the fully furnished rooms are spacious and have attached bathrooms.
Gym & Games:
Gym facilities are provided beside table tennis & Carom & Chess in the games room. For outdoor sports Foot Ball, Cricket, Badminton and Volley Ball courts are available for the students to play.
Admission to DIHM&CT is primarily based on merit. For the B.Sc. program, candidates are required to appear for the NCHMCT Joint Entrance Examination (JEE), a national-level entrance exam. The eligibility criteria for the B.Sc. program include passing the 10+2 examination with English as one of the subjects. For other Delhi Institute of Hotel Management courses, admission is based on merit obtained in the qualifying examination.
