Dhanwate National College (DNC) was founded by a faction of public-spirited citizens who recognised the need for huge prospects for University Education. It was started at Wardha in 1935 as Wasudeo Arts College and later shifted to Nagpur in 1942 renamed as National College. Shri Shivaji Education Society, Amravati, took over the management of this college in 1949. In the year 1951, Late Shrimant Dadasaheb Dhanwate donated generously to the society after which it was once again renamed as Dhanwate National College.
Dhanwate National College (DNC) was established by a small group of citizens with a sense of community who recognized the importance of having huge opportunities for a university education. It was established at Wardha in the year 1935. It was originally named Wasudeo Arts College, and was later transferred into Nagpur in 1942 and renamed National College. Shri Shivaji Education Society, Amravati was appointed the management of the college in the year 1949. In 1951, late Shrimant Dhanwate generously donated to the society. Following this, it was named Dhanwate National College.
Dhanwate National College (DNC) is associated with Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur university. The college is accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).
Dhanwate National College (DNC) programs are offered at various levels, like the undergraduate degree i.e. Bachelor of Arts (BA) Economics, Bachelor of Arts (BA) Political Science, Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com. ) the Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) Computer Applications and so on, Postgraduate degree i.e. MBA (Master of Business Administration), Master of Computer Management (MCM) and many more. Library
Library is filled by 91015 books,31 National and International periodicals and journals, 17 Newspapers, 20 magazines and 1386 bound volumes, 1556 donated books, 103 manuscripts and 575 CD's and DVD'S that are devoid. of books that are rare .Book banks are available for students, a special account scheme designed for college students , circulation facility, service for clipping Interlibrary lending facility and reference services scanner facility, reprographic facility , Wi-Fi services are available to the users. Library aids in reaching the objective by helping to support the learning processes through the use of learning tools. The library is completely automated with Cloud RFID-enabled LIB-MAN Library Software. The library includes individual reading carrels for reading and a lounge area to browse and reading in a relaxed manner. IT zone for accessing e-resources.
The Central Library is situated on I & II floor of the building of the college. It is a separate library, with large and well-ventilated reading rooms for both staff and students. The capacity of seating for students is 100 . The capacity for staff members is 10, and for research scholars is 10 on the 2nd Floor reading room . There is a 10 seat space for teachers within the central stack section of the library with comfortable seats for reading on the first floor. The total area of the Library is 779.6872 sq.Mts.
Facilities
The college is able to adapt and user-friendly infrastructure that was built for its students as the faculty. The infrastructure that is provided by the college includes the following:
Audio Visuals:
The College offers rooms that are air-conditioned and also conference/seminar rooms equipped with overhead projectors and LCDs.
Laboratories:
The Computer labs are specially made for students to use for working on computer-related work as well as for the classes in computers. The labs are equipped with wireless, broadband and Wi-Fi connectivity to both students and faculty.
Playgrounds:
Three playgrounds are available in the college to students of all ages to spend time in and play games outdoors and sports like Football, Kho-Kho, Badminton as well as Volleyball, Cricket and Cricket. The playgrounds are also devoted to Athletics.
Gymnasium:
The college also has a gymnasium to help students stay fit and healthy while learning about their students.
Common Rooms:
To enhance the function of the campus it houses common rooms for girls.
Admissions
Admission to BA, B.Com, BBA and BJMC M.Com, MA, MCM and MAM are merit based.MBA admissions are by combining scores of the students i.e. the score of CAT and academics.
Placement
There is a placement cell that conducts recruitment drives for students where prominent organizations visit the campus to offer opportunities for students to be placed. The top employers include SBI, Pantaloons, Wipro and other integrated companies. Dhanwate National College also conducts Graduate Internship programs for students studying BBA to give them an understanding of business.
The Mission of the college is to facilitate educational opportunity to the underprivileged section of society; to make them globally competent and responsible citizen of India. In its endeavor for excellence, the college has never deviated from its mission of ‘Education for Masses’.
The Vision of the college envisages infrastructural development, strengthening of Placement Cell through the establishment of Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Probodhini, strengthening of Research Center through infrastructure and support service, quality enhancement in seminars, conferences and workshop.
