What is XAT Entrance Exam?

Xavier Aptitude Test or XAT is a common entrance exam conducted by XLRI, Jamshedpur for admission to MBA/PGDM programmes. XAT is conducted annually and nearly 1 lakh candidates appear in it every year. Apart from XLRI and 10 other XAMI member colleges, 250 participating B-schools accept XAT scores for admission to their post-graduate management programmes such as MBA, PGDM and Executive MBA. Over 800 MBA colleges across India accept XAT score for admission.

XAT Exam Highlights

The Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT) 2026 will be conducted by XLRI Jamshedpur on January 4, 2026, in online mode. XAT is a national-level entrance exam held once a year for admission into over 250 MBA/PGDM colleges across India. The exam is speed-based, lasting 3 hours, and tests candidates on Decision Making, Verbal & Logical Ability, Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation, and General Knowledge. XAT 2026 will consist of 95 MCQs in English, with a registration fee of INR 2,200. The test will be held in 110 cities, and over 1.35 lakh candidates are expected to appear.

XAT Exam Dates 2026

The XAT 2026 exam will be held on January 4, 2026, conducted by XLRI Jamshedpur. The XAT 2026 registration process will begin between July and December 2025, followed by the admit card download in December 2025. XAT 2026 Application Form

1. Applicants can fill and submit the application form through online mode, no offline method is provided.
2. Registration for XAT 2026 will be started from the second week of July 2025.
3. Before filling the application form, candidates must meet the eligibility criteria given below.
4. Start with a registration procedure by entering the name, email id, and contact details to generate login credentials.
5. Upload the necessary document such as certificates/mark sheets/identity proof in the prescribed format.
6. Fill the application form with details such as personal details, academic details, work experience details.
7. Correction facility will also be enabled by the university from the first week of December 2025.
8. After filling the form, select the XLRI programmes as per the candidate's preference and select the preferred test city.
9. Before the last date i.e. from the second week of December 2025, candidates will have to complete the registration procedure.
10. Please do not forget to carry a printout of the application form with you after submitting it for further use.

How to Apply for XAT Exam 2025?

Step 2: On the home page, click on the “Sign Up” button to proceed.

Step 3: Enter the valid email address and phone number to register and generate login details.

Step 4: Press the “Save & Exit” button to proceed.

Step 5: After registration, upload the scanned photograph and signature as per the given specifications.

Step 6: Fill the form with the academic and work experience details.

Step 7: Click on the “Final Submit” button to proceed.

Step 8: Now select the XLRI program as per your preference and the test city.

Step 9: Get started with the payment option by clicking on the “Payment” button.

Step 10: Submit the registration fee using the available payment gateways.

Step 12: A confirmation page will be displayed on the screen.

Step 13: Print a copy of the form and keep it in a safe place until the admission procedure.

XAT Eligibility Criteria 2026

Those planning to take the XAT 2026 must ensure they meet the minimum admission criteria. Below are the most recent XAT Eligibility criteria and academic requirements:

1. The applicants must have a bachelor's degree in the field of their choice from an identified university with a minimum of three years of study. The candidates still pursuing their bachelor's degree or waiting for the results of the final year are also eligible to give the XAT examination.
2. Graduation marks have no minimum limit in XAT. The candidates have to secure the passing marks in their graduation.
3. The applicants with professional degrees (CA/CS) and the individuals in the workforce are also allowed to take the XAT examination.
4. Not only fresh graduates but also people in jobs can take the XAT 2026 exam. There is no age bar in XAT 2026 which means it is open to all.

Age Limit for XAT 2026:

There is no age limit to apply for the XAT 2026 exam. Both recent graduates and working professionals are eligible. Also, only students who expect to complete their final exams before June 10, 2026, are eligible to apply.

1. NRI or foreign candidates seeking admission to courses offered by XLRI and other partner business schools can apply through their GMAT score.
2. Indian candidates seeking admission through GMAT scores are eligible to apply only for the General Management program.
3. NRI and foreign candidates can apply for General Management, Business Management, and Human Resource Management offered by XLRI.

XAT 2026 Registration Procedure

The XAT online registration form 2026 will probably be released on xatonline website starting from the middle of July. Users will need to visit the site and fill out a form. XAT 2026 registration and application process are represented below:

1. Log in to the XAT 2026 website, xatonline.in.
2. Click "New Registration" and enter the relevant details.
3. A unique XAT ID and a registration link will be sent to your verified email.
4. Click the link to verify your XAT registration.
5. Go to the XAT 2026 homepage and click "Login."
6. Enter your email and password to open the application form.
7. Complete all required fields on the XAT 2026 application form.
8. Verify the information before submitting.
9. Pay the XAT 2026 application fee of INR 2,200 via credit/debit card, UPI, or online banking.

The cities in the XAT application form 2026 might be up to six that the candidates can choose. The XAT center will be given to the candidate as per their choice of a city in the XAT application form. If a seat is not available at their first city of preference, students will be allotted a center in their next city of preference. The XAT 2026 admit card will be issued online. The download link will be available on the official exam website. Below are the steps to download the XAT 2026 admit card:

1. Visit the official XAT 2026 website.
2. Click on the "Download Admit Card" tab.
3. Enter details such as your XAT User ID and date of birth and click "Login."
4. On the dashboard, click on the "Admit Card" tab.
5. Download the XAT admit card PDF and print it.

XAT 2026 Answer Key

XLRI will release the XAT Answer Key online a week after the successful completion of the XAT exam. Candidates appearing for the XAT exam will be able to download the XAT 2026 Answer Key and Answer Sheet using their login credentials.

Below are the steps to access and download the official XAT Answer Key and Answer Sheet:

1. Login to the XAT 2026 website.
2. Login to the official XAT website using the username and password.
3. Click on the link to get the Answer Key and Answer Sheet.
4. Next, click on the download option and save it to the desktop.

After downloading the XAT 2026 Answer Key, candidates must check the correct options marked on their answer sheet. If candidates find any discrepancies in their answer sheet, they must challenge the XAT Answer Key. Examinees can raise objections via email if necessary.

XAT Result 2026

XAT 2026 Scorecard will be made available to the applicants through the digital platform. The only mode to check the XAT 2026 Result will be from the website. You can check your result through the website if you are an appearing candidate for the XAT 2026 exam. The announcement of the result will be on the third week of January 2026. 

To get it, the examinees will be asked to use their XAT ID along with their password. The students will have to check the XAT 2026 Result and after that, they will also be required to keep a hard copy of the same with them for further admission procedure. The preparation of a merit list based on the students' scores is going to be done by the governing body.

XAT 2026 results along with the scorecard will stay valid for one year maximum at almost all the colleges which have agreed to be the XAT test-takers. A student may register for the test again in the next session if he/she is considering a year off. Though the XAT scorecard will be accessible at a point in time only, hence, the candidates are advised to fetch their scorecard and keep it intact in the prescribed manner.
