General Eligibility Criteria for NIFT Entrance Exam

The standards set by the authorities for a candidate to meet the requirements for eligibility criteria for the NIFT entrance exam are categorised as below.

Who can join NIFT courses after the completion of the 12th?

For NIFT admission 2026 to the undergraduate programs, applicants passing the 12th class will be able to sit for the NIFT entrance exam.

For the applicants who are appearing in their 12th/ last year of college/ last year of diploma and are not able to provide their exam results at the time of admission or counselling, their admission is based on the following terms and conditions. They are:

  1. Candidates under 18 years of age will be required to provide an affidavit on Rs. 10 non-judicial stamp paper in the format given below, duly signed by a parent/guardian. Acceptance of a forged document will not be made and is an offence punishable under the law.
  2. Submission of the candidate's qualifying degree certificate to the campus or the joint director of the concerned college within the stipulated date.
  3. Admission will be announced as null or void if the candidate does not produce the necessary certificates.
  4. Evidence of an examination clearance certificate is to be submitted for provisional admission by the candidate in case the result is not announced.
  5. Candidates who apply for provisional admission are required to present the date sheet/Principal's certificate/admit card as proof for demonstrating the status of completing the exam.
  6. The above condition applies to candidates who have appeared in the compartment/supplementary exam in the 12th class or the final year of graduation/diploma.
  7. Provisional admission-seeking candidates will also be entertained, provided that their results have not been announced by the institution/university. In any other situation, their admission will be subject to liability and will be cancelled under the provisional admission category.

Is Maths required for NIFT admission?

As per the NIFT 2026 BFTech eligibility, the candidates must have passed class 12 from one of the recognised Boards of Central/State Secondary Examination, i.e., Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi/Council for Indian School of Certificate Examination (ICSE), New Delhi, with Mathematics and Physics as compulsory subjects. NIFT 2026 Eligibility Criteria- Important Points

Students will be assessed on some parameters to be eligible to appear in the NIFT entrance exam 2026. Besides the above-given NIFT entrance exam eligibility criteria, the following are a few of the norms on which students need to achieve the NIFT 2026 eligibility to apply in a given condition.

  1. Students who are appearing in the final exam of the qualifying exam can also apply for NIFT 2026.
  2. If the result of the Class 12/ final year / final semester exam is not declared yet on the date of the NIFT counselling procedure, then students will remain strictly provisional on the following conditions.
  3. Students will be required to submit the final qualifying exam result on or before September 2026.
  4. Candidates are required to sign a duly attested affidavit of Rs. 10 on a non-judicial stamp paper. The candidate's parent or guardian should sign the affidavit if he/she is under 18 years of age.
  5. Applicants applying for provisional admission as a result of their qualifying exam are pending declaration. Thereafter, students must provide evidence that they have cleared all the papers of previous years/ semesters of the qualifying exam to meet the NIFT eligibility criteria 2026.
  6. Those students who are appearing for compartment examination(s) of 10+2 standard will be eligible only for provisional NIFT admission. However, they must pass the compartment exam of the same board. If the candidates don't complete, then the candidature will be automatically withdrawn from the provisional admission and loss of the entire fee will be lost.
