NIFT Entrance Exam, or the National Institute of Fashion Technology exam, is conducted to offer admission to UG and PG Fashion Design courses in autonomous NIFT institutes. The marks of the written exam will be used to shortlist candidates for the Test/Personal Interview. The final result of NIFT 2025 will be prepared by giving weightage to the written exam and Situation Test/Personal Interview. The NIFT exam is conducted for admission to B.Des, M.Des, and B.F.Tech, M.F.Tech and M.F.M courses.

What is NIFT Entrance Exam?

NIFT is a national-level design entrance exam conducted by the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT).

The exam is conducted once every year and has TWO parts:

  1. Written Exam - It consists of GAT and CAT. GAT paper is compulsory for all programmes, while only B.Des and M.Des candidates need to take CAT.
  2. Situation Test/ Personal Interview - Shortlisted B.Des candidates will have to take a situation test, while PG candidates will have to take a personal interview. The only exception is B.F.Tech programme, where the admission merit list will be prepared based on GAT scores only.

NIFT Entrance Exam 2025 Application Form

Step 1: Check NIFT Eligibility Check the eligibility criteria for the NIFT entrance exam on the official (www.nift.ac.in) NIFT website.

Step 2: Register Online Visit the official NIFT Official website and click on the "Admissions" tab. Click on "Apply Online" and fill in the required details such as name, email ID, mobile number, and password. Create a login ID and password.

Step 3: Fill Application Form Log in to your account and fill in the application form with personal and academic details. Upload scanned copies of required documents such as: a passport-sized photograph + Signature + Date of Birth certificate + Qualifying exam mark sheet (for UG programs) + Degree certificate (for PG programs)

Step 4: Pay Application Fee Pay the application fee online through credit/debit card or net banking. The application fee for the NIFT exam is ₹2,000 (₹1,000 for SC/ST/PWD candidates).

Step 5: Upload Documents Upload the required documents as mentioned in the application form.

Step 6: Submit Application Review and submit the application form.

Step 7: Print Application Form Print a copy of the application form for future reference.

NIFT Exam 2025 Eligibility Criteria

Before filling the application form, it is important to check whether you meet the NIFT eligibility criteria. The NIFT entrance exam requirements for UG and PG level programs are given below: 

Undergraduate Programs

NIFT Exam Age Limit(B.Des & B.FTech)

The maximum age should be less than 24 years as on 1st August 2025. Upper age limit may be relaxed by 5 (five) years for candidates belonging to SC/ST/Persons with Disabilities (PWD) categories. 

NIFT Exam Academic Qualification (B.Des & B.FTech)
  1. Passed Plus 2 level examination in 10+2 pattern from any recognised Central/State Secondary Examination Board, such as Central Board of Secondary Education/State Board New Delhi/Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations, New Delhi or passed the NIFT Delhi Entrance Examination.
  2. Passed Plus 2 level examination in 10+2 pattern from any recognised Central/State Secondary Examination Board, such as Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi/Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations, New Delhi, with Physics and Mathematics, and completed the NIFT Delhi admission process.
  3. Passing grade in the Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Open School with at least five subjects including Physics and Mathematics.
  4. Any public school/board/university examination in India or foreign countries recognized by the Association of Indian Universities as equivalent to 10+2 system with Physics and Mathematics.
  5. General Certificate Education (GCE) examination (London/Cambridge/Sri Lanka) at Advanced (A) level with Physics and Mathematics/International Baccalaureate (IB).

Master's Programs (M.Des, M.F.M and M.FTech)

Candidates fulfilling the prescribed educational qualification criteria for the Master’s program can apply for the NIFT Entrance Exam.

NIFT Exam Qualifying Age

There is no Age limit for applying for a Master's degree in NIFT.

NIFT Exam Academic Qualification
  1. Bachelor's degree in any discipline from any Institute/University recognized by law in India or Graduate Diploma of minimum three years duration from NIFT/NID.
  2. For MFM Programme: Bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized Institute/University.
  3. For MFTech Programme: BFTech from NIFT, or BE/BTech from a recognized Institute/University.

NIFT Syllabus 2025

The NIFT exam is conducted in TWO stages.

  1. The first stage consists of a written exam, which includes General Aptitude Test (GAT) and Creative Aptitude Test (CAT). 
  2. Shortlisted candidates will have to appear for a situation test/personal interview. 
  3. B.Des and M.Des candidates will have to appear for both GAT and CAT papers. Other candidates will have to appear for only GAT.

NIFT Exam Pattern 2025

NIFT Entrance Exam 2025 Admit Card

NTA will release the NTA NIFT Admit card written exam in the first week of February 2025. The admit card will be released online at nift.online.in. You will need to enter your application number and date of birth to download the admit card.

On the day of the NIFT 2025 exam, the candidate must report to the exam centre with the admit card and a valid photo ID proof. The admit card will contain details such as name, roll number, exam date and time, and venue details. On the day of the exam, the candidate must bring the admit card and a valid photo ID proof with them.

  1. Go to the NIFT admission portal
  2. Click on the admit card link
  3. A log-in window will open
  4. Enter your email ID and password.
  5. On successful login, you can download the admit card.

NIFT Answer Key 2025

The National Institute of Fashion Technology will release the draft NIFT 2025 answer key in the third week of February 2025. It will be uploaded on the NIFT NTA admission portal. It will contain the official answers to all the questions asked in the exam.

Note that no answer key will be released for the computer-based GAT paper only; no key will be released for the offline-based CAT paper.

Using the answer key, you can calculate the number of correct attempts and then the probable score.

Challenges against the draft key will also be allowed; the candidate will have to pay Rs 200 per challenge.

The final answer key of NIFT 2025 will be released after considering the candidate's response.

How to download the NIFT 2025 answer key

The step-wise process to download the answer key is given below.

  1. Go to the NTA NIFT admission portal
  2. Click on the answer key download link
  3. In the log-in window that opens, enter your Roll Number, Program Name, Question Booklet No., and DOB
  4. On successful login, you can download the answer key.

NIFT Result 2025

NTA will declare the NIFT Result 2025 written exam results most likely in the third week of February 2025. The result will be released online on the NTA NIFT admission portal.

Hard copies of the results will not be sent to the candidates.

Also, the written exam marks will not be used for admission purposes. It is only used to shortlist candidates for the next admission round.

  1. Click on the result link https://www.nift.ac.in/
  2. In the log-in window that opens, enter your application number and date of birth
  3. On log-in, the result of NIFT 2024 will be displayed on the screen
  4. Download and take a printout of the result.

NIFT Counseling 2025

The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) will conduct the counselling for NIFT 2025 after the final results are declared.

Note that the role of NTA is limited to conducting the NIFT 2025 exam and announcing the results.

The marks in the NIFT 2025 final results will be used to shortlist candidates for the counselling process.

NIFT 2025 counselling will have four seat allocation rounds, followed by a spot round.

The vacant seats that remain after the four regular rounds of counselling will be offered in the spot round.

NIFT 2025 Counseling process

The counselling process for NIFT 2024 will be conducted in a centralised manner for admission to 18 participating colleges. Candidates who qualify the NIFT 2025 entrance exam will be eligible to participate in the counselling process.

Shortlisted candidates will have to register for counselling and lock in their choices. Here choices mean the combination of academic programme and college.

The choices entered by the candidate must be in the order of priority. 

NIFT 2025 SEAT Allotment

Seats will be allotted based on the choices selected by the candidates and their merit rank in NIFT 2025.

To confirm their seats, candidates will have to pay the seat acceptance fee within the given deadline. Note that if the fee is not paid within the given deadline, the allotment will be cancelled and given to the next candidate in the order of merit.
