Kalahandi University was originally founded in 1960 and lasted until November 30, 1961, as taken over by the Government of Orissa on 01.12.1961. Kalahandi University is an Odisha state public university. It was formerly known as the Government College, Bhawanipatna. Today, it offers undergraduate and graduate courses in a variety of fields. it upgraded to an affiliating university, named Kalahandi University, Bhawanipatna.
