Kalindi College, a constituent college of the University of Delhi, has undergone significant growth and development since its establishment in 1967. In its early days, the college began as "Government College Devnagar" and was later relocated to its present location in East Patel Nagar, occupying a former government school building. Initially, the KC-DU offered undergraduate programs in humanities and pure sciences (Group B). Over the years, it expanded its academic offerings to include honors courses in humanities, commerce, and sciences such as physics, mathematics, computer science, and more. Additionally, professional courses in journalism and postgraduate courses in political science, Hindi, and Sanskrit were introduced. Recently, honors courses in botany, zoology, chemistry, and geography have also been added to the curriculum.

The growth of the college's infrastructure commenced with the foundation stone laid by the then President of India, Giani Zail Singh. The campus expanded to include a new administrative block, a well-equipped science block, and a multipurpose Sangam Parisar.
