Mahendhira College of Education, established in 2005 by the munificent under the banner of Mahendhira Educational Trust was affiliated with Periyar University, Salem. Since 2008 it is affiliated with Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University, Chennai. Our College enjoys the tranquil, unpolluted, serene atmosphere located in the suburban village of Kalipatti, Namakkal. It covers an area of 1.97 acres which constitutes administrative and departmental buildings, computer labs, and the playgrounds, canteen, students’ hostel, etc are shared with the sister concern. The greenery surroundings of the Institution provide a healthy and pleasant environment. The College, which has stepped into its 7th year in the field of Teacher Education offers Nine courses.

MCOE Infrastructure and Facilities

MCOE Computer / Language Lab

Computer cum Language Laboratory is facilitated with 40 computers managed with a server, LAN and WAN networks with 8 hours of power back-up, and offline resources for language, personality development, movies, and education (100 Tamil and English CD-ROMs). All the 100 student-teachers are divided into 2 groups and each group is trained in rotation in handling the MS-office, preparation of learning packages, and downloading online materials. The institution is equipped with 40 computers with headphones, 100 Tamil, English, Mathematics, Science, History, Commerce, and soft skills CD-ROMs. The student-teachers are encouraged to use the ICT materials for their individual learning and to develop teaching-learning materials for the internship.

MCOE RULES AND REGULATIONS - Computer Laboratory

The backbone of PSGPCE has a well-equipped computer lab. The students could avail of the Internet facility on demand. They need to book in advance for availing this facility on a first come first served basis. The students should enter the lab only during their practical class. Apart from the allotted time, if a student wants to access the lab, he/she has to get written permission from the principal. Written permission from the principal is required to install new software in the system Students are not allowed to take printouts without prior permission.

MCOE LIBRARY FACILITY

» The Institution has an automated computerized library stocked with approximately 5000 books, 120 educational CDs, and a good number of National/International journals, magazines, and encyclopedias.

» DELNET facility is provided in the library by which the students can gain access to books, journals, and magazines, in libraries in any parts of the country.

» We have installed an E-Gate facility in the library from the academic year 2009-2010

» Library is equipped with a modern photocopier machine.

» Luxurious accommodation for girls with internet lab facility

» Indoor game facilities along with gymnasium

» Supply of hot water is ensured round the clock with the help of solar water heaters

» Delicious food is prepared in all hygienic conditions in the modernized kitchen

» Pay phones and STD facility are made available in the hostel premises

» Mineral water is supplied through the R-O system in both the hostels

» Kitchen Equipments (Dosa, Chapatti Machine, Rice Cooking Utensils) are made available in the hostel

MCOE TRANSPORT FACILITIES

5 buses are plying for both boys and girls in and around Salem.

Each bus is equipped with a mobile phone, first-aid box, and fire extinguisher

MCOE CO-CURRICULAR

OBJECTIVES:

MCOE Future Plan

Master Plan

Our Mahendhira College of Education has applied for 2(B) status which will help us to receive UGC funds for conducting seminars and for constructing technology and science labs. Our research work will be enriched with the UGC funds. Individual attention is provided to our B.Ed., trainees to receive their carrier goals through TRB coaching in the near future IAS, TNPSC, NET, SLET, and other competitive examination coaching will also be provided. We have already been awarded as the best result-oriented college at State Level. We are striving to receive National Awards. Our faculty members who are encouraged by the management with on duty and sponsorship to attend National and international seminars will be, in the future permitted by the arrangement to attend International seminars abroad with full sponsorship. The semi-automated library will be fully facilitated with e-learning facilities which will help the students from carrying textbooks. E-Learning improves self-learning and self-confidence.

ADMISSION PROCEDURE

The admission procedure starts with due advertisements in the prominent dailies with the complete details of the courses offered in the college. The filled-in applications from eligible candidates are assorted in the administrative office and admissions are given to the eligible candidates. Transparency is ensured at all stages of admission. Due consideration is extended to the disadvantaged, financially poor, educationally backward, differently-abled, and outstanding sportsmen. Besides this, the management offers monetary support to needy students from the trust. A hostel rent waiver is also given to some students.
