The Department of Management Studies-NIT Trichy (DoMS-NIT Trichy) was born out of a vision of the great institution called National Institute of Technology Trichy (erstwhile Regional Engineering College, Trichy) enlightening and shaping careers for more than three decades. DoMS-NIT Trichy is the only institution that is funded by the Ministry of HRD among the NITs.

Since its inception, DoMS-NIT Trichy’s mission has been focused on contributing to growth and development efforts in India with an emphasis on research. The institution has a strong industry relationship and the vast source of alumni is the biggest asset that DoMS-NIT Trichy can boast of. Facilities and Infrastructure:

Computer Lab:

The Department of Management Studies has a computer lab aided with the latest software necessary for business analytics as well as other statistical and accounting operations. The computer lab is connected to the internet via two Internet Service Providers(ISP): (a) 150 Mbps (1:1) leased line from Software Technology Park of India (STPi); (b) 1 Gbps shared connectivity by National Informatics Centre (NIC) using BSNL and Railnet as a part of National Knowledge Network (NKN) and National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NME-ICT). Network security is provided through two UTM appliances with a failover option (Sonic Wall NSA 8500) and two Email Security appliances (Sonic Wall ES8300). User authentication for browsing the internet is linked with ADS.

Library:

The department library has books and numerous reference books catering needs of academics - finance, human resources, general management, operations, and marketing management as well as motivational & self-help books, general literature, history, biographies, fiction, and non-fiction books. Over 30 monthly business magazine subscriptions, journals, and daily newspapers are readily available for students on demand. The department library meets the need of its students, academics, and research community with a wide range of library services. The library team includes students mentored by a faculty coordinator to provide assistance.

Hostels:

There are two hostels, one for boys and the other for girls. Two independent hostels for girls and boys separately are available. They chiefly provide healthy nourishment, accommodation, and safety to the inmates.

Hospital:

The institute hospital is located within the campus, it is located amidst the hostel/residential zone and the academic zone. The Hospital provides primary health care round the clock on all days. The hospital has casualty, OP & IP facilities, 24 hours fully equipped ambulance, 24 hours pharmacy, and a clinical laboratory working from 07:00 a.m. to 09:00 p.m.

Placement:

The department of Training and Placement, the marketing division of the institute has the following functions and responsibilities: Nurtures Industry Institute interaction, by organizing and coordinating frequent industrial visits, implant training and projects of industrial relevance for the students, with the sole aim of zeroing down the hiatus between the industry and the academia. Receives and forwards the feedback pertinent to curriculum improvement from the visiting companies to the faculty, to ensure that the curriculum follows the latest industrial trends.Helps every student define his/her career interest through individual expert counseling.Organizes and coordinates Campus Placement Program, to fulfill its commitment of a job to every aspirant.
