Alpha Arts and Science College (AASC) are run by the Alpha Educational Society, a non-profit educational body registered under the societies registration act, of 1860. The College started in year 1996, is a private, unaided, co-educational arts and science institution approved by the Government of Tamilnadu with permanent affiliation to the University of Madras and accredited by NAAC.
The college is affiliated with the University of Madras with a Choice Based Credit System and follows the semester pattern with mandatory extension activities, value education and soft skills. The Under Graduate programmes are for the three years leading to Degrees awarded by the University of Madras on successful completion of academic requirements and passing the University examinations prescribed for the course during the six semesters under the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS).

AASC offers 9 Undergraduate programmes and 2 Postgraduate programmes and is equipped with suitable infrastructural facilities to aid the teaching-learning process. Alpha Arts & Science library with a vast collection of books, and a variety of journals and magazines (National and International) serves as a very effective learning resource on campus. There are 5,517 titles and 16,590 volumes in the library. The library subscribes to 34 national and 3 International Journals. DELNET networks about 2200 libraries in 32 states which provide more than I crore and 25 lakh bibliographic records of books, journals, journal articles, etc., along with open-source e-books and e-journals. INFLIBNET provides access to more than 3000 e-journals and more than 75,000 e-books. The library also has membership in the American Consulate Library and British Council Library which facilitates faculty to access the latest publications on research as well.

Every year, the College gears up towards Placements by initiating a week-long Placement Training for the Final year Students in key areas such as Verbal Ability, Logical reasoning and Quantitative Aptitude. The Students are split into batches and the regular classes are replaced by training sessions for a week. The five-day training is followed by a Mock Test on the Sixth day along with Mock Interview. This exercise helps the students to assess themselves for further improvement. In addition to the above said External Training, there is a schedule of In-house training in Quantitative Aptitude by the Faculty of the College from the Department of Mathematics, Communication skills by the Faculty of the Department of English and Technical Training by the Major Departments. Armed with this training, the students are ready to tackle Placement drives.
The Placement Convenor maintains a cordial relationship with the Industry and approaches the HR of various organizations through mail and Phone according to the Core departments available in the College. In addition, the HR of many Organizations contact the College through the Placement Convenor by mail and Phone to invite the students for recruitment. The College accepts these invitations and arranges for recruitment drives in the College based on the criteria requirements set by the Industry. The Students are informed of the drives and the eligible students register and participate in both On Campus and Off Campus drives. The College places great importance on the recruitment drives and ensures that the Placement drive is conducted effectively and smoothly with regard to Infrastructure required and hospitality. The Placement coordinators along with able student volunteers conduct the drive as per the plan drawn up by the Convenor. The Offer letter / Letter of Intent is given to the Placement Convenor/ Principal who hands them over to the students. Once the students are selected in Tier 1 companies, they are discouraged from participating in Tier 2 companies to enable all students to get recruited.
